Slate Asset Management Promotes Steven Dejonckheere to Managing Director

In this role, Steven will lead Slate’s global development team and oversee the origination and execution of the firm’s various development projects.

Steven joined Slate in 2019 in the firm’s Toronto office to support Slate’s development business. Since that time, he has been instrumental in growing the firm’s portfolio of development projects and scaling Slate’s development capabilities with a focus on activating large-scale employment and mixed-use master plan projects. Today, Steven oversees all aspects of development at Slate from initial acquisition to project stabilization across a portfolio of projects totaling approximately 12 million square feet and spanning multiple asset classes across North America. Among other projects, he is currently overseeing the planning and development of Steelport, Slate’s revitalization of 800 acres of industrial land on Hamilton’s waterfront, which is expected to generate $3.8 billion in economic value and 23,000 jobs across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University and a Master of Real Estate Development from Columbia University. Prior to joining Slate, Steven managed a development portfolio at Triovest with projects in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. He has also held development positions at Capital Developments and Dream Unlimited, and prior to his career in Canadian real estate, he worked for SCB Architects in Chicago.
