Slate acquired Stephen Avenue Place in 2018, recognizing the potential of this important Downtown Calgary asset. The building, formerly Scotia Centre, is located on the most prominent and energized corner of the downtown core, situated on the corner of 8th (Stephen) Avenue and 2nd Street SW. Slate’s redevelopment efforts focused on making the property more modern, accessible and dynamic, and activating not only the surrounding area, but also the city itself. Slate has partnered with Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality and Concorde Entertainment Group to create three innovative and inspired dining destinations at Stephen Avenue Place: the world-class Major Tom Bar on the top floor, an eclectic food hall and a high-energy restaurant, bar and patio on the street level. Other tenant only amenities include a club quality fitness facility, tenant lounge, and a games room.
