Yonge + St. Clair Case Study
Midtown Toronto is home to certain of the most desirable neighbourhoods in Toronto – including Forest Hill and Rosedale – and to many of Canada’s influential businesspeople, politicians and celebrities. At its center is the intersection of Yonge and St. Clair. These streets were once filled with busy restaurants, bustling shops and vibrant public space. Over the years, the neighbourhood lost its identity. Office buildings became dated, restaurants came and went and the area became overlooked as surrounding nodes gentrified. Slate saw an opportunity and began assembling its portfolio at Yonge + St. Clair in 2013.
In six separate transactions, Slate acquired ten assets including the buildings on all four corners of the Yonge and St. Clair intersection. Through our hands-on asset management team and clear vision, Slate is transforming Yonge + St. Clair into one of Toronto’s premier live-work neighbourhoods. The area has a vastly improved pedestrian experience, state of the art office space, top-notch retail shops and restaurants and a condominium project underway led by renowned architecture firm, Studio Gang.
